"CONCLUSION
PFE generally cause subclinical findings are exceedingly common in trauma patients. Progression, to FES is rare with only 0.5-2% advancing to this more concerning condition. Diagnosis continues to be elusive and is generally a diagnosis of exclusion after evaluating for pulmonary embolus, pneumonia, and pulmonary contusion. Treatment involves supportive care and steroids for more severe cases."
