"Refractory ventricular tachycardia, also known as “electrical storm,” is defined as at least two or more separate ventricular tachycardia (VT) or fibrillation (VF) episodes requiring intervention in a 24-hour period.

So what to do?

1. ABC
2. Search for causes
3. Start with ACLS
4. Beta-blockers
5. Consider procedures to reduce the sympathetic drive
6. Consider increasing the amount of energy given during defibrillation
7. Special consideration for patients with Brugada syndrome
8. Consider sedation
9. Consider cardiac catheterization post-ROSC"
